Dear Diary
Day 28

I woke up feeling stiff and sore. Fortunately, I was not feeling seasick. I also realized that the beats engine had stopped. Then a smuggler, with 3 sailors surrounding him, shouted that there had been a mistake in the price of the boat ticket to go to Australia and demanded that we had to pay another hundred dollars. Many people started crying and yelling on hearing that. The sailors demanded us to pay if not they would turn back the boat. A sailor with my bread bucket was moving down the boat snatching whatever valuables off the people and raising teir clubs at anyone who had nothing to give. It was my turn to put something into the bucket. I dropped 2 loaves of bread into it but they were soon flung out into the sea by him. Just then Rashida took out a watch that belonged to her Dad from her suitcase and gave it to the sailor. She told him that the watch was from the four of us. I was very grateful to Rashida for doing that. We all hoped the sailors had enough. To our delight, the boat started moving again.

Day 29

Bibi asked me how long we had been on the boat. I replied by saying five as I know that the food and water on the boat had run out. Immediately, Rashida corrected me by saying it had been 6 days. The food and water on the boat had run out. I told Bibi to rest and forget about wondering what day it was. But she said that it was her birthday on that day. I apologized to her for forgetting her birthday. I was extremely disappointed with myself for forgetting it. All of us wished her. Then I told the 3 of them about the supermarkets. Rashida said that she was born in Australia. We were shocked on hearing that. She shared with us that her uncles had died in the war.
Dear Diary,
Day 26

I decided to bake bread using the diesel engine and none of the sailors stopped me so far. In fact they were fascinated by what I was doing. I was explaining to the sailors on how to bake the bread using sign language. I wanted the bread to bake quickly as Bibi was asleep. The sailors could not wait to get their hands on the bread but I had to stop them with my hand gestures. I had to thank Rashida for providing the flour for the bread. While I was under the deck, there was water up to my knees. I asked the sailors if the boat was sinking but they did not understand me. I did not share this piece of news with the others as I did not want them to worry about it.

Day 27

I could not eat the bread that I had baked as the boat was moving up and down with the huge waves. I started to feel seasick. However, Bibi was not seasick. Many people on the boat felt just like me. I pitied them. I struggled to drink the water that Rashida was giving me to sip from her vegetable tin but a whiff of vomit and urine hit me and I tried hard to keep the water down. I just could not wait to get to Australia and meet my parents.
